Ryan joined Eastcape and Karoo Safaris in June 2021
Ryan and Ian joined Eastcape & Karoo Safaris in June 2021 for a memorable safari. If there was ever a true saying of, ‘arriving as clients, and leaving as friends’ then this was one of those safaris! What incredible banter, hunting and storytelling. The days just flew by, way too quickly, and this was an indication of us all having a jolly good time!
Ryan arrived with a wish list, but was first to point out, that we would hunt the wild open spaces, and see what we found! During the safari we hunted several species including Impala, warthog, Gemsbuck, Red hartebeest, springbuck, waterbuck.
The most adrenaline packed of them all was the Cape Buffalo hunt! We found several buffalo groups and often set off for several hours tracking them. We also found some old dagga boys along the way, but wasn’t after a good few days that we finally managed to get really close and personal with a group of buffalo. We had stalked a group for several hours, and finally got close, one of the buffalo cows had seen some movement and was very alert. I suppose it was to be expected when she was only 20 odd meters from us!! We had to sit still for a while, which felt like an eternity, and once the cow moved off, we could focus on the old bull that we had spotted in the group. We got Ryan into position, and waited for the right opportunity to take the best shot! And the opportunity does eventually present itself; it may not seem like it at the time!! Ryan took a great shot with his trusty 375 H&H! After the chaos of the buffalo running in various directions, and the dust settling, we could approach his buffalo. One safety shot, and it was all over!! What an incredible buffalo hunt!
