Tiny 10 Hunts Eastcape & Karoo Safaris

At Eastcape & Karoo Safaris, our commitment to providing distinctive safari experiences goes beyond the pursuit of the renowned ‘Big 5’. Embracing the thrill of the hunt, we invite enthusiasts to engage in the excitement of pursuing the elusive ‘Tiny 10’. This exclusive list comprises six to seven species found in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa, all within a convenient two-hour drive from our lodge.

The Tiny 10 roster includes the Blue Duiker, Southern Bush Duiker, Cape Grysbuck, Common Oribi, Steenbok, Klipspringer, and the Vaal Rhebuck. While the Vaal Rhebuck isn’t officially part of the Tiny 10, it often stands in for the Sharpe Grysbuck. The Eastern Cape provides a unique hunting ground for these species, offering a challenging and diverse experience for avid hunters.

For those seeking additional challenges beyond the Eastern Cape, species like the Sharpe Grysbuck, Natal Red Duiker, Livingstone Suni, and Damara Dik-Dik can be pursued in different regions of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Namibia. Choices such as hunting the Sharpes Grysbuck may necessitate venturing into new territories, adding five extra hunting days or even another safari, depending on the client’s preference.

Hunting the red duiker and suni requires a separate safari or allocating an additional five hunting days in the Kwazulu Natal region of South Africa or Mozambique. Similarly, the Damara Dik-Dik, found in Namibia, presents an opportunity for a distinct safari experience. For those interested, we can facilitate connections with outfitters in these regions, potentially combining the hunt with other unique species like cheetah or leopard.
